Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq عليه السلام was asked about the saying of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Mighty and Majestic: "And [forbidden to you are] married women" (Surah An-Nisa 4:24). Imam عليه السلام said: "They are those who have husbands." I said: "And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you" (Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:5). Imam عليه السلام said: "They are the chaste women."
