What the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام Informed Regarding the Occurrence of the Occultation
حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْمَكْفُوفِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عُقْبَةَ الشَّاعِرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عليه السلام يَقُولُ كَأَنِّي بِكُمْ تَجُولُونَ جَوَلَانَ الْإِبِلِ تَبْتَغُونَ الْمَرْعَى فَلَا تَجِدُونَهُ يَا مَعْشَرَ الشِّيعَةِ.
Narrated to us my father رضي الله عنه: Narrated to us Ali bin Ibrahim from his father from Muhammad bin Sinan from Ziyad Makfoof from Abdullah bin Abi Uqbah, the poet that he said: I heard Amirul Momineen Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام say regarding the way people will search for the Imam: “As if I can see you running like camels, searching for pasture in vain.”
