Kamāl al-Dīn wa Tamām al-Niʿma|Volume 1|Book 2|Chapter 55
10- حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْعِجْلِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع مَا مَعْنَى إِنَّما أَنْتَ مُنْذِرٌ وَ لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هادٍ فَقَالَ الْمُنْذِرُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ عَلِيٌّ الْهَادِي وَ فِي كُلِّ وَقْتٍ وَ زَمَانٍ إِمَامٌ مِنَّا يَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَى مَا جَاءَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص.
Narrated to us my father: Narrated to us Saad bin Abdullah: Narrated to us Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Isa from his father from Ibne Abi Umair from Umar bin Uzainah from Buraid bin Muawiyah Ijli that he said:
“I asked Abi Ja’far عليه السلام regarding the meaning of:You are only a warner and (there is) a guide for every people.22
He replied: ‘Warner means the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and guide means Ali Ibne Abi Talib عليه السلام. And at every time and in every period there will be an Imam from us who will call the people towards the teachings of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم.’”
