Merits of the Month of Ramaḍān

Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan b. Aḥmad b. al-Walīd رضي الله عنه narrated to us, saying that Aḥmad b. Idrīs narrated to him among others, saying that Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Yaḥyā b. ʿImrān al-Ashʿarī narrated to him among others, from Ibrāhīm b. Isḥāq al-Nahāwandī, from Muḥammad b. Sulaymān al-Daylamī, from his father, who said: “I heard al-Ṣādiq عليه السلام saying: “Winter is the spring of the believer—during it, it lengthens his nights so that he seeks assistance from it in standing for (supererogatory) prayer, and it cuts short his days so that he may seek assistance from it in fasting.”
