Chapter on Purifying Clothes and Other Items From Impurities

مَا أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَبَانٍ عَنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنِ اَلْعَلاَءِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا عَلَيْهِمَا اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ اَلْمَذْيِ يُصِيبُ اَلثَّوْبَ فَقَالَ «يَنْضَحُهُ بِالْمَاءِ إِنْ شَاءَ» وَ قَالَ فِي اَلْمَنِيِّ اَلَّذِي يُصِيبُ اَلثَّوْبَ« فَإِنْ عَرَفْتَ مَكَانَهُ فَاغْسِلْهُ وَ إِنْ خَفِيَ عَلَيْكَ فَاغْسِلْهُ كُلَّهُ».
Ahmad ibn Muhammad narrated from his father, from Al-Husayn ibn Al-Hasan ibn Aban, from Al-Husayn ibn Sa'id, from Fadalah, from Al-Ala', from Muhammad, from one of the Imams عليه السلام.
He said: "I asked Imam عليه السلام about madhiy (pre-seminal fluid) that touches the garment.” Imam عليه السلام said: 'Sprinkle it with water if you wish.' (Narrator) asked regarding maniy (semen) that touches the garment. Imam عليه السلام said: 'If you know its location, then wash it. However, if its location is unknown to you, then wash the entire garment.'"
