Chapter on Guiding the Dying, Positioning Them at Death, Procedures for Their Final Moments, Washing Them, and Placing Them in Shrouds
مَا أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْ أَبِي اَلْقَاسِمِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ اِبْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ اَلْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ:« إِذَا حَضَرْتَ اَلْمَيِّتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ فَلَقِّنْهُ شَهَادَةَ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اَللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ».
Narrated to me by the Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, from Abu Al-Qasim Ja’far bin Muhammad, from Muhammad bin Ya’qub, from Ali bin Ibrahim, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Hammad, from Al-Halabi, from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام:
Imam عليه السلام said: "If you are present with a dying person before death, prompt him to testify that there is no god but Allah سبحانه وتعالى, alone with no partner, and that Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم is His servant and messenger."
