Chapter on Instructing the Dying (Talqin al-Muhtadarin)

Humayd ibn Ziyad, from Ibn Sama'ah, from 'Abdullah ibn Jabalah, from Muhammad ibn Mas'ud al-Ta'i, from 'Anbasah ibn Mus'ab, from Abu 'Abdillah عليه السلام, who said: Imam عليه السلام said: “The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: "Whoever faces a funeral procession or sees it and says: ‘Allahu Akbar (Allah سبحانه وتعالى is the Greatest), 'This is what Allah سبحانه وتعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم have promised us, and Allah سبحانه وتعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم have spoken the truth. O Allah سبحانه وتعالى, increase us in faith and submission. Praise be to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Who is exalted in power and has subdued His servants with death,' Then, there will not remain an angel in the heavens, close to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, except that they will cry out of mercy at the sound of his voice."
