Chapter on Instructing the Dying (Talqin al-Muhtadarin)

Al-Husayn ibn Sa'id, from Al-Nadr ibn Suwayd, from Yahya ibn 'Imran Al-Halabi, from 'Abdullah ibn Muskan, from Zurara, who said: I was with Abu Ja'far عليه السلام and a man from the Ansar was also present. A funeral procession passed by, and the Ansari stood up, but Abu Ja'far عليه السلام did not stand up. So, I remained seated with Imam عليه السلام. The Ansari continued standing until the procession passed by, and then he sat down. Abu Ja'far عليه السلام said to him: "What made you stand up?" The Ansari replied: "I saw (Imam) Al-Husayn ibn 'Ali عليه السلام do this." Abu Ja'far عليه السلام said: "By Allah سبحانه وتعالى, neither did (Imam) Al-Husayn عليه السلام do this, nor has anyone from us, the Ahlulbayt عليه السلام, ever stood up for a funeral procession." The Ansari then said: "You have caused me to doubt, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى set you right! I had thought that I saw him (Imam Al Husayn عليه السلام) do it."
