أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ اَلْحَكَمِ عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ اَلنَّخَّاسِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: عَزَّى أَبُو عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ رَجُلاً بِابْنٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ« اَللَّهُ خَيْرٌ لاِبْنِكَ مِنْكَ وَ ثَوَابُ اَللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْهُ» فَلَمَّا بَلَغَهُ شِدَّةُ جَزَعِهِ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ عَادَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ« قَدْ مَاتَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ أَ فَمَا لَكَ بِهِ أُسْوَةٌ» فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مُرَهَّقاً فَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَمَامَهُ ثَلاَثَ خِصَالٍ شَهَادَةَ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اَللَّهُ وَرَحْمَةَ اَللَّهِ وَ شَفَاعَةَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ فَلَنْ تَفُوتَهُ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ إِنْ شَاءَ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى».
Narrated by Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Ali ibn Al-Hakam, from Rifa'ah Al-Nakhkhas, from a man, from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام:
Abu Abdullah عليه السلام, consoled a man who had lost his son and said to him: "Allah سبحانه وتعالى is better for your son than you, and the reward of Allah سبحانه وتعالى is better for you than him." When Imam عليه السلام later heard about the man’s intense grief, Imam عليه السلام returned to him and said: "The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace be upon him and his family, also passed away. Do you not find comfort in following his example?" The man replied: "But he (the son) was still a child." Abu Abdullah عليه السلام, then said: "There are three things before him (in the afterlife): The testimony that there is no God but Allah سبحانه وتعالى, The mercy of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, And the intercession of the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace be upon him and his family. Not one of these will be denied to him, if Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, wills."
