Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 1|Book 1|Chapter 3
Narrated to me by the Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from his father, from Sa'd bin Abdullah, from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from Muhammad bin Khalid, from Muhammad bin Sinan, from Isma'il bin Jabir, who said:
I asked Abu Abdullah عليه السلام about the amount of water that does not become impure. Imam عليه السلام said: 'A kurr.' I asked: 'And how much is a kurr?' Imam عليه السلام said: 'Three by three handspans.'
