Chapter on Etiquettes of Causes Requiring Purification

وَأَخْبَرَنِي اَلشَّيْخُ عَنْ أَبِي اَلْقَاسِمِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ اِبْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَنِ اَلْكُرِّ مِنَ اَلْمَاءِ كَمْ يَكُونُ قَدْرُهُ قَالَ« إِذَا كَانَ اَلْمَاءُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَشْبَارٍ وَ نِصْفاً فِي مِثْلِهِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَشْبَارٍ وَ نِصْفٍ فِي عُمْقِهِ فِي اَلْأَرْضِ فَذَلِكَ اَلْكُرُّ مِنَ اَلْمَاءِ».
And what was narrated to me by the Shaykh, from Abu Al-Qasim Ja'far bin Muhammad, from Muhammad bin Ya'qub, from Muhammad bin Yahya, from Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Yahya, from Uthman bin Isa, from Ibn Muskan, from Abu Basir, who said:
I asked Abu Abdullah عليه السلام about the measurement of a kurr of water. Imam عليه السلام said: 'If the water measures three and a half handspans by three and a half handspans in width and depth into the ground, that is a kurr of water.'
