Chapter on Etiquettes of Causes Requiring Purification

وَ بِهَذَا اَلْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَشْيَمَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى قَالَ: سَأَلَ اَلرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ رَجُلٌ وَ أَنَا حَاضِرٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ فِيَّ خُرَاجاً فِي مَقْعَدَتِي فَأَتَوَضَّأُ وَ أَسْتَنْجِي ثُمَّ أَجِدُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ اَلنَّدَى وَ اَلصُّفْرَةَ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ اَلْمَقْعَدَةِ أَفَأُعِيدُ اَلْوُضُوءَ قَالَ« وَ قَدْ أَنْقَيْتَ» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ« لاَ وَ لَكِنْ رُشَّهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَ لاَ تُعِدِ اَلْوُضُوءَ».
And through this chain of narration, from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from Ali bin Ashyam, from Safwan bin Yahya, who said:
A man asked Al-Ridha عليه السلام in my presence: 'There is an ulcer in my anus. I perform wudu and istinja, but afterward, I notice moisture and yellow discharge coming from the anus. Should I repeat the wudu?' Imam عليه السلام said: 'Did you clean it thoroughly?' The man replied, 'Yes.' Imam عليه السلام said: 'No, you do not need to repeat the wudu, but sprinkle water over it and do not repeat the wudu.'
