Chapter on the Description of Ablution (Wudu)

مَا أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ وَهْبٍ عَنِ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ اَلْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ خَلَفِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ عَمَّنْ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ اَلرَّجُلُ يَنْسَى مَسْحَ رَأْسِهِ وَ هُوَ فِي اَلصَّلاَةِ قَالَ« إِنْ كَانَ فِي لِحْيَتِهِ بَلَلٌ فَلْيَمْسَحْ بِهِ» قُلْتُ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ لِحْيَةٌ قَالَ« يَمْسَحُ مِنْ حَاجِبِهِ أَوْ مِنْ أَشْفَارِ عَيْنَيْهِ».
The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from his father, from Sa‘d bin Abdullah, from Musa bin Ja‘far, from Wahb, from Al-Hasan bin Ali Al-Washsha’, from Khalaf bin Hammad, from someone who narrated to him from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام, who said:
I asked Imam عليه السلام: "What should a person do if he forgets to wipe his head whilst already in prayer?" Imam عليه السلام said: "If there is moisture in his beard, he should wipe with that." I asked: "What if he does not have a beard?" Imam عليه السلام replied: "Then he should wipe from his eyebrows or the lashes of his eyes."
