The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me, saying: Ahmad bin Muhammad informed me, from his father, from Muhammad bin Yahya, from Muhammad bin Ali bin Mahbub, from Ahmad bin Ali, from Abu Hammam, from Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ridha عليه السلام, who said:
Imam عليه السلام said: "In ablution, the obligation in the Book of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, is wiping, while washing in ablution is for the purpose of cleanliness."
