Chapter on Obligatory and Recommended Ritual Washing

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ اَلْحَسَنِ اَلصَّفَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ اَلْقَاسِمِ بْنِ اَلصَّيْقَلِ قَالَ: كَتَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ هَلِ اِغْتَسَلَ أَمِيرُ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ صَلَوَاتُ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ حِينَ غَسَّلَ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ فَأَجَابَهُ« اَلنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ طَاهِرٌ مُطَهَّرٌ وَ لَكِنْ أَمِيرُ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَعَلَ وَ جَرَتْ بِهِ اَلسُّنَّةُ».
Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated from Muhammad ibn Isa, from al-Qasim ibn al-Sayqal, who said:
I wrote to Imam عليه السلام: 'May I be your ransom, did the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام perform ghusl when He عليه السلام washed the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) after his death?' Imam عليه السلام replied: 'The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is pure and purified, but the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام performed ghusl, and it became a practice (sunnah).'"
