Chapter on Obligatory and Recommended Ritual Washing

وَ أَخْبَرَنِي اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَبَانٍ عَنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: فِي اَلْأَمْرِ يَطْلُبُهُ اَلطَّالِبُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ قَالَ« يَتَصَدَّقُ فِي يَوْمِهِ عَلَى سِتِّينَ مِسْكِيناً عَلَى كُلِّ مِسْكِينٍ صَاعٌ بِصَاعِ اَلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ فَإِذَا كَانَ اَللَّيْلُ فَاغْتَسَلَ فِي ثُلُثِ اَللَّيْلِ اَلثَّانِي وَ يَلْبَسُ أَدْنَى مَا يَلْبَسُ» وَ ذَكَرَ اَلْحَدِيثَ إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ« فَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فِي اَلسَّجْدَةِ اَلثَّانِيَةِ اِسْتَخَارَ اَللَّهَ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ يَقُولُ» وَ ذَكَرَ اَلدُّعَاءَ.
Narrated by the Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from his father, from al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan ibn Aban, from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id, from Faddalah, from Mu’awiyah ibn Wahb, from Zurara
Abu Abdullah عليه السلام said regarding a matter that a person seeks from their Lord عز وجل. Imam عليه السلام said: 'Let him give charity during the day to sixty needy individuals, each receiving a sa’ (measure) according to the measure of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). When night comes, let him perform ghusl during the second third of the night, wearing the simplest clothing,' and he mentioned the rest of the narration until Imam عليه السلام said: 'When he raises his head from the second prostration, let him seek guidance from Allah سبحانه وتعالى (istikharah) one hundred times, saying...' and he mentioned the supplication."
