Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 1|Book 1|Chapter 6
Narrated with this chain of narration, from al-Husayn ibn Sa'id, from Safwan and Fadalah, from al-Ala', from Muhammad, from one of the Imams عليه السلام, who said:
I asked Imam عليه السلام about the ghusl for janabah (major ritual impurity). Imam عليه السلام said: "You begin by washing your hands, then wash your private parts, then pour water over your head three times, and then pour water over the rest of your body twice. Whatever the water flows over has been purified."
