Chapter on the Rules of Menstruation, Istihadah, and Nifas, and Purification From Them
Through this chain of narration, from Ali ibn Al-Hasan, from Ali ibn Asbat, from Ala ibn Razin, from Muhammad ibn Muslim, who said:
I asked Abu Ja’far عليه السلام about the duration of nifas (postnatal bleeding). Imam عليه السلام said: "Asma bint Umays experienced nifas, and the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace be upon him and his family) instructed her to perform ghusl on the eighteenth day. There is no harm in adding a precautionary day or two."
