Chapter on Tayammum and Its Rules

Narrated from the Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Sa‘d ibn ‘Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya, from al-‘Abbas, from al-Sukuni, from Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq عليه السلام, from his father Imam Al Baqir عليه السلام, from Abu Dharr, who said: He (Abu Dharr عليه السلام) came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and said: "O Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I have perished! I had relations without water (for ghusl)." The Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, ordered for a mihmal (a portable covering), behind which he (Abu Dharr عليه السلام) covered himself. Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم then called for water, and both I (Abu Dharr عليه السلام) and my wife performed ghusl (ritual washing). Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم then said: "O Abu Dharr, the earth is sufficient for you (as purification) for ten years."
