Chapter on Tayammum and Its Rules

مَارَوَاهُ سَعْدٌ عَنِ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَى اَلْخَشَّابِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ أَتَيَمَّمُ وَ أُصَلِّي ثُمَّ أَجِدُ اَلْمَاءَ وَ قَدْ بَقِيَ عَلَيَّ وَقْتٌ فَقَالَ« لاَ تُعِدِ اَلصَّلاَةَ فَإِنَّ رَبَّ اَلْمَاءِ هُوَ رَبُّ اَلصَّعِيدِ» فَقَالَ لَهُ دَاوُدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ اَلرَّقِّيُّ أَ فَأَطْلُبُ اَلْمَاءَ يَمِيناً وَ شِمَالاً فَقَالَ« لاَ تَطْلُبِ اَلْمَاءَ يَمِيناً وَ لاَ شِمَالاً وَ لاَ فِي بِئْرٍ إِنْ وَجَدْتَهُ عَلَى اَلطَّرِيقِ فَتَوَضَّأْ وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدْهُ فَامْضِ».
The narration transmitted by Sa‘d from al-Hasan ibn Musa al-Khashshab, from Ali ibn Asbat, from Ali ibn Salim, from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام, where he said:
I asked Imam عليه السلام: "I perform tayammum and pray, then I find water while there is still time remaining. Should I repeat the prayer?" Imam عليه السلام replied: "Do not repeat the prayer, for the Lord عز وجل of water is the Lord عز وجل of the earth." Then Dawood ibn Kathir al-Raqi asked Imam عليه السلام: "Should I seek water to my right and left?" Imam عليه السلام replied: "Do not search for water to your right, left, or in a well. If you find it along the way, then perform ablution; otherwise, proceed."
