Chapter on What is Permissible to Pray in, from Clothing and Place, and What is Not Permissible to Pray in, from That

And from him, from Fadalah from Husayn ibn Uthman from Al-Hasan Al-Sayqal from Ibn Muskan from Abu Basir, who said: I asked Him عليه السلام about a man and a woman who pray in the same house, with the woman at the man's right side, aligned with him. Imam عليه السلام said: “No, unless there is between them a span (shibr) or an arm’s length (dhira‘).” Then Imam عليه السلام said: “The length of the mount of the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, was an arm’s length, and He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم used to place it in front of him when He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم prayed to screen himself from those who might pass in front of him.”
