Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa, from al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Faddal, from al-Hasan ibn al-Jahm:
Abu al-Hasan al-Ridha عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: "Every path that is walked upon, do not pray on it." I asked: "It has been narrated from your grandfather that 'there is no problem with praying on the edges (zawahir) of the roads.'" Imam عليه السلام said: "That might be when a man accompanied me on it." I asked: "And if a man fears the loss of his belongings?" Imam عليه السلام said: "If he fears loss, then let him pray."
