Chapter on the Merit of Prayer, and What is Obligatory and Recommended from It

From him, from Al-‘Abbas from Abdullah ibn Al-Mughirah from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar from Isma‘il ibn Yasar, who said: I heard Abu Abdillah عليه السلام say: “Beware of laziness. Indeed, your Lord عز وجل is Merciful and He عز وجل rewards even a little. A man may pray two units of voluntary prayer, seeking by them the Face (favour) of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, and Allah سبحانه وتعالى will admit him to Paradise because of them. And he may give one dirham in charity, voluntarily, seeking by it the Face (favour) of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, and Allah سبحانه وتعالى will admit him to Paradise because of it. And he may fast a single day, voluntarily, seeking by it the Face (favour) of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, and Allah سبحانه وتعالى will admit him to Paradise because of it.”
