Chapter on the Merit of Prayer, and What is Obligatory and Recommended from It
وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ اَلْهَاشِمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ:« إِنَّ عَمُودَ اَلدِّينِ اَلصَّلاَةُ وَ هِيَ أَوَّلُ مَا يُنْظَرُ فِيهِ مِنْ عَمَلِ اِبْنِ آدَمَ فَإِنْ صَحَّتْ نُظِرَ فِي عَمَلِهِ وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَصِحَّ لَمْ يُنْظَرْ فِي بَقِيَّةِ عَمَلِهِ»
And from him, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Zurarah from Isa ibn Abdullah Al-Hashimi from his father from his grandfather:
(Imam) Ali عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: “The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, said: ‘Indeed, the pillar of the religion is prayer, and it is the first thing from the deeds of the son of Adam that will be looked into. If it is sound, the rest of his deeds will be examined, and if it is not sound, none of his other deeds will be looked at.’”
