Chapter on the Prayer Times (Mawaqit)

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ اَلْحَكَمِ عَنْ زُرْعَةَ عَنْ مُفَضَّلِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ تَفُوتُنِي صَلاَةُ اَللَّيْلِ فَأُصَلِّي اَلْفَجْرَ فَلِي أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ بَعْدَ صَلاَةِ اَلْفَجْرِ مَا فَاتَنِي مِنْ صَلاَةِ اَللَّيْلِ وَ أَنَا فِي مُصَلاَّيَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ اَلشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ« نَعَمْ وَ لَكِنْ لاَ تُعْلِمْ بِهِ أَهْلَكَ فَيَتَّخِذُونَهُ سُنَّةً»
Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya narrated from Muhammad ibn Isa from Ali ibn Al-Hakam from Zur'ah from Al-Mufaddal ibn Umar who said:
I said to Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “May I be your ransom, the night prayer sometimes escapes me, so I pray Fajr, is it permissible for me to pray after the Fajr prayer what I missed of the night prayer while I am still in my prayer place before the sun rises?” Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes, but do not let your family know about it, lest they take it as a regular practice."
