Sa’d from Musa ibn Ja’far from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Jabbar from Maymun ibn Yusuf al-Nahhas from Muhammad ibn al-Faraj, who said:
I wrote asking about the times of prayer, and he replied: "When the sun passes its zenith, pray your ‘subhah’ (supererogatory prayer), and I prefer that you complete your obligatory prayer while the sun is at two footsteps (above the horizon). Then pray your ‘subhah’, and I prefer that you complete your ‘Asr prayer while the sun is at four footsteps. But if some urgent matter hastens you, then begin with the two obligatory prayers and make up the supererogatory afterward. And when the dawn rises, pray the obligatory (Fajr) prayer first, then afterward make up as much as you wish (of supererogatory prayers)."
