Chapter on the Prayer Times (Mawaqit)

Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub narrated from Ali ibn Khalid from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Faddal from Amr ibn Sa'id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from Ammar Al-Sabati from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام said: I asked Imam عليه السلام about a man who is overcome by sleep or prevented by something from praying Fajr on time. Imam عليه السلام said: "He may pray Fajr any time between the rising of the dawn and the rising of the sun, and that is specifically for the obligatory prayer. So if he has prayed one rakʿah of the dawn prayer and then the sun rises, he should complete the prayer, and his prayer is valid. But if the sun rises before he has prayed a single rakʿah, then he should break off the prayer and not pray until the sun has risen and its glare has passed."
