أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ اَلْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَسْرُوقٍ اَلنَّهْدِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ هَيْثَمٍ اَلتَّمِيمِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ اَلْأَعْرَجِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ وَ أُرِيدُ اَلصَّوْمَ فَأَكُونُ فِي اَلْوَتْرِ فَأَعْطَشُ فَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَقْطَعَ اَلدُّعَاءَ فَأَشْرَبَ وَ أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُصْبِحَ وَ أَنَا عَطْشَانُ وَ أَمَامِي قُلَّةٌ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَهَا خُطْوَتَانِ أَوْ ثَلاَثَةٌ قَالَ« تَسْعَى إِلَيْهَا وَ تَشْرَبُ مِنْهَا حَاجَتَكَ وَ تَعُودُ فِي اَلدُّعَاءِ»
Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Al-Haytham ibn Abi Masruq Al-Nahdi from Muhammad ibn Haytham Al-Tamimi from Sa'id Al-A'raj who said:
I said to Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “I spend the night intending to fast, and while I am in the witr prayer I become thirsty, but I dislike cutting off the supplication to drink, and I also dislike reaching morning while I am thirsty. In front of me there is a water container, two or three steps away.” Imam عليه السلام said: "Go to it, drink what you need from it, and then return to your supplication."
