Chapter on the Manner of Prayer, Its Description and What is Obligatory and Recommended
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ اِبْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ:« اَلسُّجُودُ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَعْظُمٍ اَلْجَبْهَةِ وَ اَلْيَدَيْنِ وَ اَلرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَ اَلْإِبْهَامَيْنِ وَ تُرْغِمُ بِأَنْفِكَ إِرْغَاماً فَأَمَّا اَلْفَرْضُ فَهَذِهِ اَلسَّبْعَةُ وَ أَمَّا اَلْإِرْغَامُ بِالْأَنْفِ فَسُنَّةٌ مِنَ اَلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ»
Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ibn Abi Najran from Hammad ibn Isa from Hariz from Zurarah, who said:
Abu Ja'far, peace be upon him, said: “The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, said: ‘Prostration is upon seven bones: the forehead, the two hands, the two knees, and the two big toes, and you press your nose firmly in humility. As for the obligation, it is these seven, and as for pressing the nose, it is a Sunnah from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family."
