Chapter on the Manner of Prayer, Its Description and What is Obligatory and Recommended

Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr from Hammad from Al-Halabi who said: I asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about the lightest form of Takbir in the prayer. Imam عليه السلام said: "Three Takbirs; and if there is recitation, then you should recite ‘Surah Al Ikhlas’ and ‘Surah Al Kafirun’. And if you are the Imam (of prayer), it suffices for you to pronounce one Takbir aloud and to say six (Takbirs) quietly."
