Chapter on Recommended (Nafl) Prayers During Travel

Al-Husayn ibn Sa’id narrated from Fadalah from al-Husayn ibn Uthman from Ibn Maskan from ‘Umar ibn Hanzalah. He said: I said to Abu Abdillah عليه السلام: “May I be your ransom, I asked you about making up the day prayers at night while on a journey, and you said, ‘Do not make them up.’ But your companions asked you, and you said, ‘Make them up.’” Imam عليه السلام said to me: “Should I say to them, ‘Do not pray’? And I dislike saying to them, ‘Do not pray.’ By Allah سبحانه وتعالى, that is not required of them.”
