Chapter on Times of Prayer and Sign of Each of Its Times

As for what was narrated by Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Salt, from Bakr ibn Muhammad, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, who said: A man asked Him عليه السلام about the time of Maghrib. Imam عليه السلام said: “Indeed, Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, says in His Book regarding Ibrahim عليه السلام, peace be upon him: ‘So when the night enveloped him, he saw a star…’ (Surah An'am 6:76), this is the beginning of the time. And the end of that is the disappearance of the twilight. The beginning of the time of ‘Isha’ is the fading of the redness, and its end is until the darkness of the night, meaning midnight.”
