Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 2|Book 1|Chapter 5
Narrated by Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Ya’qub ibn Yaqtin, who said:
I asked the Righteous Servant (Abd Salih عليه السلام) about a man who prayed on a cloudy day not facing the qiblah, and then the sun rose while he was still within the prayer time. Should he repeat the prayer if he had prayed not facing the qiblah, even if he had made his best effort to determine its direction? Does his prayer suffice him? Imam عليه السلام said: "He must repeat what was within the time. But once the time has passed, there is no repetition upon him."
