Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from Abu Ayyub al-Khazzaz, from Abu Basir, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, who said: One of our companions asked Him عليه السلام, and I (Abu Basir) was present, about ‘qunut’ in the Friday prayer. Imam عليه السلام said to him: “In the second rak‘ah.” So the man said to Him عليه السلام: “One of our companions narrated to us that you told him it is in the first rak‘ah.” Imam عليه السلام said: “In the last.” Then, when He عليه السلام saw that the man was confused, Imam عليه السلام said: “O Aba Muhammad, (it is) in both the first and the last.” Then Abu Basir asked after that: “Is it before the bowing or after it?” So Abu Abdillah عليه السلام said: “Every ‘qunut’ is before bowing, except in Friday prayer: in the first rak‘ah it is before bowing, and in the last it is after bowing.”
