Chapter on the Manner of Prayer, Explanation of the Fifty-One Rak‘ahs; The Order, Recitation, Tasbih in Bowing and Prostration, Qunut, and What is Obligatory and Recommended Therein

And it has been narrated from the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, that Imam عليه السلام said: “Whoever wishes to depart from this world having been cleansed of sins as pure gold is cleansed of impurities, and with no one seeking from him a right due to injustice, let him say after every prayer the ‘(Surah al-Ikhlas)’ twelve times. Then he should spread his hands and say: ‘O Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I ask You عز وجل by Your hidden, treasured, pure, immaculate, and blessed Name. And I ask You عز وجل by Your great Name and Your ancient authority, that You عز وجل send blessings upon Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم. O Giver of gifts, O Liberator of captives, O Deliverer of necks from the Fire, I ask You عز وجل to send blessings upon Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, and to free my neck from the Fire, and to cause me to leave this world in security, and to admit me into Paradise in peace. And that You عز وجل make the beginning of my supplication success, and its middle acceptance, and its end righteousness. Indeed, You عز وجل are the Knower of the unseen.’ Then the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: “This is from the hidden teachings which the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught me, and He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم commanded me to teach it to al-Hasan عليه السلام and al-Husayn عليه السلام, peace be upon them.”
