Sa‘d ibn Abdullah from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadhala ibn Ayyub from Aban ibn Uthman from Muhammad ibn Muslim from Abu Ja‘far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, he said:
I asked Him عليه السلام about a man who begins the recitation in prayer, should he recite ‘Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Rahim’? Imam عليه السلام said: “Yes, when he begins the prayer, let him say it at the beginning of what he opens with, and thereafter it suffices him.”
