Chapter on the Manner of Prayer, Explanation of the Fifty-One Rak‘ahs; The Order, Recitation, Tasbih in Bowing and Prostration, Qunut, and What is Obligatory and Recommended Therein
وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي اَلْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي اَلْحَسَنِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: فِي قَوْلِ اَللَّهِ عَزَّوَجَلَّ« وَرَهْبٰانِيَّةً اِبْتَدَعُوهٰا مٰا كَتَبْنٰاهٰا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلاَّ اِبْتِغٰاءَ رِضْوٰانِ اَللّٰهِ» قَالَ «صَلاَةُ اَللَّيْلِ»
And from him, from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Abi al-Khattab, from Ali ibn Asbat, from Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abi Abdillah:
Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام (was asked) regarding the saying of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Mighty and Majestic: ‘And monasticism which they innovated, We did not prescribe it for them, except (that they did it) seeking the pleasure of Allah سبحانه وتعالى”’ (Surah Hadid 57:27) Imam عليه السلام said: “(It refers to) the night prayer.”
