وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: أَنَّهُ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَشَكَا إِلَيْهِ اَلْحَاجَةَ وَ أَفْرَطَ فِي اَلشِّكَايَةِ حَتَّى كَادَ أَنْ يَشْكُوَ اَلْجُوعَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ« يَا هَذَا تُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ» قَالَ فَقَالَ اَلرَّجُلُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ« كَذَبَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّهُ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ وَ يَجُوعُ بِالنَّهَارِ إِنَّ اَللَّهَ تَعَالَى ضَمِنَ بِصَلاَةِ اَللَّيْلِ قُوتَ اَلنَّهَارِ»
And from him, from Umar ibn Ali, from his uncle, from someone who narrated to him from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام:
A man came to Him عليه السلام and complained about poverty and went to extremes in his complaint to the point that he nearly complained of hunger. Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, said to him: “O this one, do you pray at night?” The man replied: “Yes.” Then Abu Abdillah عليه السلام turned to his companions and said: “He has lied, the one who claims that he prays at night and goes hungry during the day. Indeed, Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, has guaranteed with the night prayer the sustenance of the day.”
