Chapter on the Manner of Prayer, Explanation of the Fifty-One Rak‘ahs; The Order, Recitation, Tasbih in Bowing and Prostration, Qunut, and What is Obligatory and Recommended Therein

Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Hammad, from al-Halabi: Abu Abdillah عليه السلام (was asked) regarding the Qunoot in Witr, is there anything fixed in it that should be followed and said? Imam عليه السلام said: “No. Praise Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Mighty and Majestic, and send blessings upon the Prophet, blessings of Allah سبحانه وتعالى be upon him and his family, and seek forgiveness for your great sins.” Then Imam عليه السلام said: “Every sin is great.”
