وَ عَنْهُ عَنِ اَلنَّضْرِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَكْعَتَيِ اَلْفَجْرِ قَبْلَ اَلْفَجْرِ أَوْ بَعْدَ اَلْفَجْرِ فَقَالَ« قَبْلَ اَلْفَجْرِ إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ صَلاَةِ اَللَّيْلِ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً صَلاَةُ اَللَّيْلِ أَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَايِسَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ أَ كُنْتَ تَتَطَوَّعُ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْكَ وَقْتُ اَلْفَرِيضَةِ فَابْدَأْ بِالْفَرِيضَةِ»
And from him, from al-Nadr, from Hisham ibn Salim, from Zurarah, from Abu Ja‘far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
I asked Him عليه السلام about the two rak‘ahs of Fajr, are they before the Fajr or after the Fajr? Imam عليه السلام said: "Before the Fajr, for they are from the night prayer. Thirteen rak‘ahs is the night prayer. Do you want to compare? If there was something due upon you from the month of Ramadan, would you perform voluntary prayers after the time of the obligatory prayer has entered? Begin with the obligatory prayer."
