Chapter on the Rulings of Congregational Prayer (the Minimum Number for Congregational Prayer, the Description of the Imam, Who Is to Be Followed and Who Is Not to Be Followed, Recitation Behind Both of Them, the Rulings of Those Led in Prayer, and Other Such Rulings Related to It)
And from him, from Ali from his father from Abdillah ibn al-Mughirah from Qutaybah from Abi Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “If you are behind an imam (of prayer) whom you are pleased with, in a prayer in which the recitation is done aloud, and you do not hear his recitation, then recite for yourself. But if you hear the murmuring sound (hammhamah), then do not recite.”
