Chapter on the Rulings of Congregational Prayer (the Minimum Number for Congregational Prayer, the Description of the Imam, Who Is to Be Followed and Who Is Not to Be Followed, Recitation Behind Both of Them, the Rulings of Those Led in Prayer, and Other Such Rulings Related to It)
This was narrated by Sa’ad ibn Abdillah from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from Hammad ibn Uthman and Khalaf ibn Hammad from Ribi from Abdullah ibn al-Jarud and al-Fudayl ibn Yasar from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
We asked Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام about a man who prayed with an imam (of prayer) whom he follows, and he raised his head from sujud before the imam (of prayer) raised his head from sujud. Imam عليه السلام said: “Then let him prostrate (again). And whoever catches the imam (of prayer) after he has raised his head from rukuh, let him prostrate with him, but he should not count that sujud (as part of his own prayer).”
