Chapter on the Rulings of Congregational Prayer (the Minimum Number for Congregational Prayer, the Description of the Imam, Who Is to Be Followed and Who Is Not to Be Followed, Recitation Behind Both of Them, the Rulings of Those Led in Prayer, and Other Such Rulings Related to It)

This was narrated by Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa from al-Hajjal from Hammad ibn Uthman from Abu Basir from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “It is proper for the imam (of prayer) to make audible to those behind him everything he says, and it is not proper for those behind him to make anything they say audible to him.”
