Chapter on the Prayer During Travel

Sa’ad ibn Abdillah, from Abu Ja’far, from Ali ibn Hadid; and al-Husayn ibn Sa’id, from Hammad ibn Isa, from Hariz ibn Abdillah, from Abu Ja’far, from Muhammad ibn Muslim, who said: I asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about a man who returns from his journey and the time of prayer has entered while he is still on the road. Imam عليه السلام said: “He should pray two rak‘ahs. And if he sets out on his journey and the time of prayer has entered, then he should pray four (rak‘ahs).”
