Chapter on the Prayer During Travel
Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 3|Book 2|Chapter 1
From him, from al-Abbas ibn Ma'ruf, from Ali ibn Mahziyar, who said:
I read in a letter from Abdillah ibn Muhammad to Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “Our companions have differed in their narrations from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, regarding the two rak‘ahs of Fajr during travel. Some of them narrate: ‘That you should pray them in the litter (al-mahmil),’ And some narrate: ‘That you should not pray them except on the ground.’ So inform me how you act yourself, so that I may follow you in that.” Imam عليه السلام, peace be upon him, wrote in response: “It is permitted (muwassa‘un ‘alayk) for you, whichever of the two you act upon.”
