Chapter on the Virtue of Mosques and Prayer Within Them, and the Virtue of Congregational Prayer and Its Rulings

Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya from Isa ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Mahziyar with his chain of transmission, who said: Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said to him: “The boundary of the ‘Mosque of Kufah’ is at the end of the area of the lamp-makers (al-sarrajin); it was marked out by Adam عليه السلام, peace be upon him, and I dislike entering it while riding.” He (narrator) said: “I asked, ‘Then who changed it from its original plan?’” Imam عليه السلام said: “The first of that was the flood in the time of Nuh عليه السلام, peace be upon him, then it was changed by the people of Kisra and al-Nu'man, then it was altered by Ziyad ibn Abi Sufyan, may the curse of Allah سبحانه وتعالى be upon him.”
