Chapter on the Virtue of Mosques and Prayer Within Them, and the Virtue of Congregational Prayer and Its Rulings

From him, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from his father from Ibn al-Mughirah from Nasih the mu’adhdhin, who said: I said to Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “I pray at home and then go out to them (the opponents).” Imam عليه السلام said: “Consider it a supererogatory (nafilah) prayer, and do not pronounce the takbir with them (the opponents), for that would enter you into the prayer with them, for the key to the prayer is the takbir.”
