Chapter on the Virtue of Mosques and Prayer Within Them, and the Virtue of Congregational Prayer and Its Rulings

Al-Husayn ibn Saeed from Yaqub ibn Yaqtin who said: I said to Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “May I be your ransom, the time for the noon prayer (Dhuhr) arrives, but we are not able to check the time until they (the public, meaning non-Shia) descend, so we descend with them and pray. Then they (the opponents) rise quickly and we rise and pray the afternoon prayer (Asr), but we make it appear to them as though we are bowing. Then later, they descend for the afternoon prayer (Asr) and they put us forward, so we lead them in prayer.” Imam عليه السلام said: “Lead them in prayer, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى not accept their prayer.”
