Chapter on What Is Lawful for Banu Hashim and Unlawful from Zakat

Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Faddal, from Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Hammad ibn Isa, from Hariz, from Zurarah, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I said to Imam عليه السلام: “The charities of Banu Hashim, of some of them to others among them, are they lawful for them?” Imam عليه السلام said: “Yes. The charity of the Messenger صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, is lawful for all people, from Banu Hashim and others besides them. And the charities of some of them (Banu Hashim) to others among them are lawful for them, but the charities of a stranger (non Banu Hashim) are not lawful for them.”
