Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from al-Husayn ibn Sa'id, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj, who said:
I (narrator) asked Abu al-Hasan al-Awwal عليه السلام (the First), peace be upon him, about ‘zakat, may some of those who are given, from among those who do not ask, be preferred over others?’ Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes, the one who does not ask is preferred over the one who asks."
